Laser Beam Printer Technology
Technologies behind CAPT
Printers
CAPT,
Canon Advanced Printing Technology, developed by Canon, is a unique Printer Language
that only requires a fraction of that used in conventional laser printers. With this
technology, end users reduce their Total Cost of Ownership of our Canon CAPT Laser
Printers, which means they need not spend more on buying memory for upgrading. It
also increases productivity and overall ease-of-use of the printers. Together with
features like Custom Print Profiles, On-Screen Previewing and Easy Networking, Canon's
CAPT printers are both powerful and affordable. Most of Canon's range of personal
laser printers are bundled with this technology: LBP-800, LBP-810 & the latest
LBP-1210.
A recent review on LBP-810 (shown on the right), has proven that, Canon's CAPT Printer,
is able to achieve fast printing with less memory without
sacrificing Quality.
How Canon does it? A technology by
Canon called ScoA, Smart Compression Architecture can only be found
in printers with CAPT Technology. With SCoA Technology, fast printing
is achieved with less memory on-board the printer. From the diagram
below, Fig.1, the print job is being compressed in the computer by the SCoA driver,
using the computer's memory. Once completed, the compressed data is transmitted to
the CAPT printer for printing. The waiting-time is minimized and more productive
compared to the flow of a normal laser printer, shown in Fig. 2, whereby the data
transmitted is not compressed initially. Furthermore, with SCoA's efficient data
compressing codes, it can manage the data compression with minimal memory. That is
to say, stable output is realised regardless of the amount of data, even huge data
can be printed smoothly.
