PIXMA iP5000 featuring the FINE
high-performance print head
The "engine" of an inkjet printer, the print head, determines image
quality and print speed. The PIXMA iP5000 incorporates Canon's "FINE" (Full-photolithography
Inkjet Nozzle Engineering) print head.
1 pl ink droplets and 9600* x 2400 dpi
The newly developed FINE print head used on the PIXMA iP5000 is able to eject
ink droplets just 1 pl in size, in addition to 5 pl droplets. This enables further
reductions in graininess.
The PIXMA iP5000 is also capable of achieving high resolution of 9,600* x 2,400 dpi.
1 pl ink droplets and 9600 dpi* resolution are combined to ensure even smoother gradation
reproduction than in the past over all regions, from highlights to dark areas.
Similarly, technically advanced utilization of both 1 pl and 5 pl ink droplets enables
high image quality and high speed. In addition, the PIXMA iP5000 uses Photo Black
ink to increase the overall contrast of images. This makes it possible to produce
photo prints with a three dimensional feel.

Advanced Media Handling
To deliver a comfortable printing environment with
improved printing speed and convenience, the PIXMA iP5000 comes standard with a wide
array of convenient functions to meet the needs of diverse printing styles.
2-Way Paper Feeding
The Paper Feed Cassette is built into the printer unit. Combined with the conventional
Auto Sheet Feeder, this offers 2-Way Paper Feeding convenience as a standard feature.
The Paper Feed Switch shifts the paper-feed location from the Auto Sheet Feeder to
the Cassette and back. Detailed settings for the paper feed method can be set using
the printer driver.

Auto Duplex Printing
The built-in Auto Duplex Printing Unit handles both plain paper and photo paper.
Auto Duplex Printing is compatible with both the Auto Sheet Feeder and Cassette feeding.
DVD/CD Direct Printing*
The built-in tray-guide lets users directly print on DVD and CD. Known for precise,
high-speed,high-image-quality printing, Canon's DVD/CD Direct Printing has been made
easier to use.

The PIXMA iP5000 boasts a FINE print head that
features a total of 1,856 nozzles for true 1200 dpi resolution. It also features
an independent-drive 4-motor system and a high-speed paper feed mechanism. Further,
the sequence and motor margin have been optimized for faster printing of high-quality
pictures. The PIXMA iP5000 can print monochrome text documents at up to 25 ppm and
color documents at up to 17 ppm.

Faster Camera Direct
The Camera Direct feature - incorporated into
the PIXMA iP5000 - supports PictBridge and Bubble Jet Direct. In addition to achieving
approx. 30% faster print speeds*, it allows 2-Way Paper Feeding for enhanced printing
convenience.
