Microfine Droplet Technology
Outstanding reproduction eliminates the graininess of dots. New MicroFine Droplet
Technology makes this level of quality possible. This is the core technology behind
the BJC-8200. It enables precise printing of low-density photo ink at ultra-small
sizes using a high-performance ink head. This unique Canon technology gives zero
graininess, and succeeds in realizing previously unattainable levels of color gradation,
brightness and sharpness without over-compensation. The result is the "next
generation" of photo image quality, enabling the photographer to realize his
or her intentions with unparalleled accuracy. A printer that performs like a cameraÖan
achievement only possible with Canon-a manufacturer of both. The new BJC-8200 photo
quality printer-No.1 in the world.
Ultra-Photographic Resolution
4 pl microscopic ink droplets & 6-color photo printing
The ink droplets sprayed from the ultra-high-precision head, which is manufactured
using stepper LSI manufacturing technology, have the ultra-small size of approximately
4 pl (picoliters). Whatís more, the printer uses ultra-low-density photo ink with
a density approximately 1/6 that of regular ink. This gives an apparent dot size
corresponding to 0.67 pl of regular ink. Translated into image resolution, this enables
six-color photo printing equivalent to approximately 1800 dpi. |

1200 dpi high-density head
A high-performance head is essential for detailed printing. By concentrating on BJ
technology, Canon has succeeded in developing an ultra-high-density head with 1200
dpi pitch. This enables accurate printing at an actual resolution of 1200 dpi. In
other words, dots are printed directly at a spacing of 1/1200 of an inch. |

High-Precision Dot Control
In developing every element of the BJC-8200, outstanding accuracy and imaging
were sought. The newly developed printing nozzle has a star-shaped aperture that
guarantees smooth density curves and even ink metering throughout each perfectly
rounded dot. |
33-level Gradations
With microscopic ink droplets of 4 pl, up to 42 ink droplets are sprayed per
pixel. Multi-gradation where dots are normally easily distinguishable.
Canon Think Tank System
Cost savings
Separate Tank design
Each of the six color tanks is independently installed, so it is necessary to
replace only the colors that have been depleted.
Ink-Level Detectors
Accurate ink-level detectors in the cartridge provide "Ink Low" and
"Ink Out" warning messages as ink levels drop. This warning system helps
prevent wastage caused by ink running out during printing.
Useful Features
600 dpi High-Resolution Scanning
Simply insert the IS-52 compact scanner cartridge in the BJC-8200 to transform
your printer into a scanner with a high resolution of 600 dpi. Prints out enlargements
of selected portions of photographs (or other images) in full clarity.
Dual Interface
Equipped with both a parallel interface and the USB interface as standard, enabling
direct connection to Windows 98, the Mac OS with USB interfaces.
37 dB Ultra-Quiet Printing
The BJC-8200 has improved its quietness as much as 37 dB by introducing a DC
motor, which is the first ink jet printer to achieve below 40dB.
Photo Paper Pro
Canon has developed PR-101, a special professional quality photo paper that brings
out the full potential of the BJC-8200. Breakthrough photo quality has been achieved
thanks to the high-clarity luster, brilliant color reproduction, and sharp imaging
of the paper.
High-speed photo-quality printing
A multi-nozzle head is used to cover a wide printing area at one time. In addition,
bi-directional printing is possible even when printing photos on special paper. This
gives the printer the highest printing speed in its class (1 min for 4 x 6 (102 mm
x 152 mm), 3 min for full-size A4(Letter) on Photo Paper Pro) with no loss in quality.
